The book provides that stability on which we can build, kind of like the four legs of a well-balanced table. God has a plan for us that’s full of hope and a future, meant to bless us. But at times we find ourselves feeling uncertain, floundering for direction, slipping into old habits – and wondering whether we can get there from here. We can—if we seek Him moment to moment. Includes personal stories and experiences gathered from the author’s life and his worldwide ministry.
The four legs are the four basic things we can discern from scripture, that men and women of God do. So much of Christian teaching seems to be about what you shouldn’t do. But what should you do? What will help you grow deeper, and stronger? I’ve spent a lifetime, helping men and women of God, grow deeper, spiritually. This is the basic discipleship program I have used. I’ve seen it work miracles and for people and families across cultures, throughout the world. In 2015, I begged the Lord to help me understand how to cause men and women of God to be more spiritual, speak more maturely, and be more focused on the kingdom of God.
The result that he gave me was a series of messages called the four legs. I preached them, they were recorded, and transcribed into this book.
When we talk about prayer, it’s best to acknowledge that it’s not just something we do once a day. Prayer is communication with God. Prayer is an ongoing process of both speaking to God and listening to Him.
Worship is important to God. It’s a key element throughout scripture – Old Testament, and New Testament. Jesus worshipped. It’s a key and an important part of being a man or woman of God. And it’s in all the descriptions of heaven.
Fasting began in the Old Testament and continued in the New Testament. Jesus fasted. Paul fasted. Paul wrote that husbands and wives should separate themselves physically for a period of fasting and prayer. Fasting is important. And so let’s examine the elements of fasting.
Because finances are such a major issue in everyone's life, I would be remiss as a pastor not to address what the Bible says about sowing. I can assure you that the Bible has much to say about sowing your time, talent, and treasure into the kingdom of God. I want to break it down so that you can clearly understand what I mean.
Foundational topics with down-to-earth applications. Quick-read chapters with deep concepts that are easily time manageable. Useful for speakers, pastors, and teachers. Perfect for small group studies. There is marketing potential for ancillary merchandise such as a companion journal for this book. A Note From the Author: Why Write The Four Legs?
